  Softball team gets win

Echo Sports

Freshman Natalie Faulkner came one out away from a no-hitter last Thursday, but the UCA softball Bears still dropped a non-conference softball doubleheader to Lynn University.

Faulker gave up back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning as UCA dropped a 2-1 decision in the opening game at Farris Field. Lynn took the nightcap 9-1 in five innings.

Faulkner nearly had a perfect game, save for one walk, heading into the seventh inning. She got the first two outs before Christina Rolla and Jenna Piatrowski hit consecutive home runs for the only two hits of the game. Faulkner struck out two.

Leslie Clothier led the game with a triple for the Bears and scored on Kristen Coots’ single. Clothier was two for three.

In the nightcap, UCA had only four hits. Marquita Smith and Katti Bowen both had doubles for the Bears.
