  Men's golf team places 2nd at ATU

The UCA men’s golf team shot a second-day 294 to finish second overall at the Arkansas Tech Collegiate Classic played last Monday and Tuesday at Chamberlyne Country Club.

First-day leader Delta State stayed in front and won with a round of 286 on Tuesday.

DSU finished at 576, followed by UCA at 596, Southwestern Oklahoma at 599, Henderson State at 602, Central Missouri at 609, Ouachita Baptist and UCA “B” at 612, Missouri Western at 614, ATU “B” at 618, Rockhursty at 619, Central Missouri at 620, Southern Arkansas at 639 and Harding at 643.

UCA’s Mauricio Galeno followed his first-day 71 with a 72 on Tuesday and finished tied for second overall at 143.

Rodney Boswell of DSU won the individual title at 142.

UCA’s Kobus Erasmus shot 74-73 for a 147 and tied for ninth place. Ryan Lecuyer had a 77-78—155 and tied for 32nd, while Louis-Charles Godin followed an opening 85 with a 71 on Tuesday to shoot 156 and tie for 35th.

Jordan Short shot 80-78—158 and tied for 43rd.

On UCA’s second team, Brannon Watson shot 78-70—148, Brandon Hargraves had 74-78—152, Matt Montgomery had 79-76—155 and Kent Loftus shot 80-77—157.

The men’s golf team hosted the UCA Invitational at Greystone’s Cypress Creek course in Cabot Monday and Tuesday. Results were unavailable at press time.

WOMEN
Junior Lisa Bowden shot an 85 on Tuesday to help the UCA women’s golf team finish 10th in the 15-team Texas A&M-Commerce Lady Lions Invitational at Tanglewood Resort.

Bowden shot 82-85—167, 23 over par for the tournament and tied for 13th overall.

Whitney Ross had rounds of 84-89—173 and finished tied for 32nd.

Christina Lecuyer had an 88-86—174 and tied for 36th.

Lindsey Weston had matching rounds of 88 for a 176 total that put her in a tie for 43rd.

Kate Ech shot 94-92—186 and finished tied for 60th.

St. Mary’s of Texas won the tournament with a 335-317—652. Central Oklahoma was second, followed by Tarleton State, Northeastern State, TAMUC, West Texas A&M, Tyler Junior College, CSU-Chico State, Western Washington, UCA, Drury, Newman University, William Woods, Truman State and Southwestern Oklahoma.

The Bears also finished 10th at the Texas A&M Commerce Lady Lion Invitational recently. Bowden tied for eighth overall with a score of 82.
