Tennis team demolishes ATU, 8-1

The UCA tennis team knocked off
Arkansas Tech in impressive fashion, taking eight of nine from the Golden
Suns last Tuesday at the UCA tennis complex.
Two of the Bears eight wins came from defaulted matches.
The Bears had a successful day in singles action, winning five matches in
straight sets and taking the last match by default.
UCA's Maja Kovacev defeated Julie Raspaut 6-4, 6-0. Danijela Bogdanovic
knocked off Leesa Beck 6-2, 6-1. Milica Radovic defeated Michelle Jones 6-0,
6-1. Toral Parekh beat Erin Spears 6-0, 6-0. And in the last match Heather
Winston defeated Cherrill Green 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles action the team of Kovacen and Parekh defeated Tech's Beck and
Raspaut 8-1.
In the second doubles game Tech's Jones and Spears team edged out the Bears'
Brandi McAtee and Kirby Crone 9-8. The last doubles match was also defaulted
to the Bears.
Next up for the Bears is Henderson State and Arkansas-Monticello at
Arkadelphia April 12. |
