Bears picked 23 in preseason poll

The University of Central Arkansas Bears were
picked 23rd in the Football Gazette NCAA Division II Top 40 preseason poll
released Tuesday.
The Bears, coming off an injury riddled 5-6 season, were one of five Gulf
South Conference teams in the Top 40. North Alabama was third, while
Valdosta State was sixth, Delta State was 14th and Southern Arkansas 19th.
Saginaw Valley State was first, followed by North Dakota.
UCA, which plays all four of the other ranked GSC teams this year, opens the
2004 season on Aug. 28 against Eastern New Mexico in Portales, N.M.
